New services and a growing number of users are moving the Line messenger app closer and closer to an IPO. More than one billion users have downloaded the messenger app, with more than 200 million of them using it about once a month.
Line Messenger is also inching ever closer to music streaming as well and is considering how it might come to expand mobile payment possibilities.
There do seem to be some challenges though, ahead of an IPO for the company that seems to have so many impressive numbers and features coming into play. They may even decide to stay away from an IPO all together.
One of the new ventures is a service called Line Beacon, which will allow Bluetooth detection of Line users, allowing for push notifications for things such as free coupons and product information. Another service, known as Line Pay, is adding a Line prepaid card for cashless transactions in hopes of making their services even easier to attain and maintain.
